IFEMA and SEGITTUR have renewed their collaboration agreement for the organisation of the specialised section Fitur Know-How & Export during the next International Tourism Fair (Fitur), which will be held from 19th to 23rd May 2021 during the Madrid Trade Fair (IFEMA).
This section, the joint effort of Fitur and SEGITTUR in collaboration with the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (ICEX), has become a reference event for Spanish companies wishing to export their knowledge through their services and products linked to the five categories of the Smart Destination model, from innovation and technology to accessibility and sustainability.
The agreement was signed today and witnessed by the Director-General of IFEMA, Eduardo López-Puertas; the Chairman of SEGITTUR, Enrique Martínez Marín; and the director of Fitur, María Valcarce.
Among other actions, the agreement covers the organisation of an exhibition space for Spanish companies to support their business and export their know-how; a networking area; an auditorium, where a full three-day programme of conferences will be held; and the SEGITTURLab, an area featuring practical workshops aimed at training tourism professionals to respond to the new needs of the sector.
According to Eduardo López-Puertas, “IFEMA, just like other agents and companies within the tourism industry, is living through a crucial time, during which innovation and digital transformation are essential tools for addressing a future full of opportunities. This future must be led by innovative tourism and destinations that are ever more intelligent, accessible and sustainable, thanks to the solutions technology is providing to tourism development. In the current context, Fitur will be strategic for the much-anticipated recovery of the sector, and SEGITTUR’s collaboration and experience will be of great value to boost the innovation and internationalisation of Spanish tourism companies during the Fair.”
The Chairman of SEGITTUR has expressed his satisfaction and gratitude to be continuing the work during the 9th Fitur Know-How & Export in 2021. “Over the years, it has shown itself to be a space that generates a large amount of interest among national and international professionals, as it allows both the public and private sectors to learn about the latest developments in services and products, as well as the most advanced technological solutions aimed at driving smart tourism management. It is without a doubt an initiative that has become an unmissable event during Fitur, a reference event for discovering first-hand the most advanced trends of the tourism of the future.”
