The Smart Destination Network Plenary Committee is meeting for the tenth time during the World Congress, held in Valencia, where the progress in the Smart Destinations Platform was presented.
Under the Smart Destinations work programme promoted by SEGITTUR for the Secretariat of State for Tourism, the platform aims to accelerate the digital transformation through the relationship between the agents of the tourism ecosystem (tourist destinations, the business sector and the connected tourist) by responding to the new needs of tourists and improving destination management.
The platform plans to feature 68 functionalities that a destination may require in its digital transformation, to guide a homogeneous transformation of Spain’s tourism sector.
The president of SEGITTUR, Enrique Martínez, has taken stock of the activities of the DTI Network, and highlighted the launch of the exclusive member intranet within www.destinosinteligentes.es, which includes knowledge tools such as access to repositories of best practices, specifications, and grants and calls.
During the meeting, the Committee approved the incorporation of eight institutions and twelve companies, of which six renewed their membership, bringing the number of members to 618: 437 regular, 87 institutional, 91 collaborators and 3 international observers.
New institutional members include the Mar de Santiago Association, the Rueda Wine Route Association, the Association for the Promotion and Development of the Jerte Valley (SOPRODEVAJE), the Association for the Comprehensive Development of the Comarca de la Vera (ADICOVER), the Spanish Railways Foundation (FFE), the Eurecat Foundation, Hispania Nostra and the National Police.
The collaborating companies that join or renew their membership in the Network are Any Solution, ARvision, Escapada Rural, Horwath HTL Spain, Interactive System Developers, MyStreetBook, Open Ideas, OK Located, Puntodis, Sismotur, Tourism Data Driven Solutions and Transparent Intelligence.
